The Government Gateway uses the postal address registered on the government department's system for the service you are enrolling to send you confirmation of your User ID and your service Activation code (if required).
After the Gateway has sent this information, your address is deleted from the Government Gateway.
Please note: some services, including those operated by HMRC, do not offer postal confirmation of user IDs.
